A British teacher has been arrested in Sudan for allegedly insulting Islam by naming a teddy bear Mohammed. The teacher, Gillian Gibbons aged 54, and said her 7-year-old students named the bear when she asked them to. The charge of blasphemy is potentially punishable in Sudan by 40 lashes, prison time, and/or a fine.

I am sure that CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has a rational explanation for this woman’s punishment. International Red Cross, Amnesty International, and other human rights groups, you are very quite out there.
So let me understand this Islamic concept. Name a cute cuddly teddy bear that brings happiness to a child Mohammed that is bad. Name a C4 bomb that kills infidels or any other fellow Muslim citizens Mohammed that is good. If you dress the teddy bear with strap-on bombs and a ‘Death To America’ shirt, would that be acceptable to the Islamic mind? Are you listening Vermont Teddy Bear Company? Here is a prime marketing opportunity to sell teddy bears to the Islamic market.
Where is the ACLU to defend this woman against cruel and unusual punishment of 40 lashes? They defend convicted death row inmates who have submitted cases to the Supreme Court for the pain and agony from lethal injections. Never mind the victim who died a brutal death.
In America, how should Christians behave when they meet a law-abiding citizen named Jesus (typically Hispanics, could be illegal aliens)? Do we stone them to death or call 911? Jesus was the Son of God. Can a mortal human be worthy of carrying the name of Jesus? Is that an insult to Christianity? If Muslims have their way in America, they will target the prominent Judeo-Christian names before they go after names like ‘Bob’ or ‘Fred’.
Let’s take this a step forward to actual pet names. I own an American Pit Bull Terrier named Luke. He is very loving and loyal to my son and me but he is not friendly to strangers. I know that dogs are held with distain in the Islam culture. If I changed his name to Mohammed, I suspect that it would be considered blasphemy to Islam. Since he is a nasty dog to strangers would he be considered acceptabe to the Islamic mind?
I still stand by my statement; Islam is a cult of death and cowardice.
