America by in large is a very affluent and educated society in the Western civilization. I have always been curious why more successful this country becomes, the more it participates in self-hating/destructive activities.
When I looked at who was the most vocal in my acquaintance social circle, it was the individual who I viewed as successful. Many times in the past two years I have noticed the growing hostility addressed toward me and I was becoming snubbed at social events. I began to wonder what have I done to cause my once large social circle to drop off like flies? I live by the ‘Golden Rule’. I don’t do or say anything in private that I would not do in public. I don’t make any unfortunate noises in public. What gives?
It really did not make any sense. These people have car(s) that screamed affluence. Dined at the exclusive locations in the Riverside/Avondale neighborhood where the ‘pretty’ people mingled. Large homes that humble mine. The ugly truth finally presented itself to me. I had become very successful based on pure merit and that I had far exceeded what my fellow acquaintances expectations for how much success I was supposed to achieve with my level of education, no credentials, and social caste system. If I wanted to in two years I can retire, drop out of the ranks of the income tax, and tell the IRS to go pound sand. My acquaintances are hyper-spenders living on an image that would be financially bankrupt in 2 paycheck cycles if they lost their jobs. I am sure that will enslaved to cooperate America till their late 50’s or actual retirement age.
America not realizing it has become a country where the majority of the population has an entitlement worldview that crosses all social-economic classes. The poor expect wealth re-distribution entitlements. The middle and upper classes expect compensation and respect based on their education, credentials, job description, and social caste system. Just to prove my point, ask someone in mid or upper management what is his or her job title. The job title is highly defined and defended. It is almost more important that the compensation.
The truth is, there really is no direct correlation between (job title & credentials) and compensation. A MBA or a CPA is no guarantee that the compensation will increase. It improves their chances. A free market need & merit has to be tied to the credential. An uneducated man with some business sense and a desire to succeed can round up junk cars and start a used automobile parts venture and easily make more money that a MBA graduate.
I find people with a Masters or a Doctorate level education highly condensating and bitter. Why, they seem to think based on the fact that I have worked to acquire an education credential I am owed a specific range of respect and compensation. There is nothing more offensive to an educated & credentialed individual than to observe a high-achiever succeed without the same background out performed them. Their worldview has failed them and has slapped them in the face.
If that outcome is not met how dare that someone else without credentials can succeed? Look how adverse colleges and universities treat free market based economies. PHd’s think that they should be just as important and compensated as a company CEO. The same goes to government officials and their progressive IRS tax structure.
The majority of the American population seems to hate others achieve so much that they are willing to vote themselves government hindrance to their own life’s ability to achieve if it the government policy also attacks another’s high achievement. Before this Republic becomes a tyrannical socialistic state I am going to enjoy the fruits of my high-achievement without any shame.
