I am sure no one will dispute the fact there are two separate and distinct dress code standards in the corporate business environment.
Men wear formal suits or business casual. Either dress code, body parts are covered and are not enhanced. We are conservative in our appearance.
For the women, there are essentially no business dress standards. Woman can wear fabrics that reveal outlines of their body parts and their under garments. Body parts are enhanced by being pushed up and out. Skin can be exposed in the cleavage, legs, and mid-drift area.
As a red blooded male I have no issue admiring a pretty woman and if the clothes match the physique. I really wish clothes manufactures would not manufacture thongs and spandex for obese women but, this is a free market economy. I will appreciate as much as a woman is willing to reveal. I certainly do not want to view a male in that kind of revealing or enhanced manner. I am sure the ‘Nancy’ boys may differ with me.
The major problem I have is that Business Human Resources practices allow women to present themselves in a manner that bring attention to them selves but males are not permitted to appreciate the female presentation. That is like turning on a 52-inch flat screen high definition television during the NFL Superbowl game and being instructed to not look at the television. Even though women like to state the fact they live in an equality society they certainly expect preferential treatment when they play dress up at work.
If you are one of the ‘pretty’ people like George Clooney or Denzel Washington complementing a woman is always welcomed. The complemented woman will probable encourage him to ask her out or run his hand up her skirt.
If you are an average or un-attractive man, complementing a woman is always a double edge sword. If you do not complement a woman on her appearance, you run the risk is making her mad and she will make the working relationship difficult in the office. If you do complement a woman on her appearance, the complement can be interpreted as an advance or unprofessional behavior and may be reported to Human Resources. If you are charged with Sexual Harassment in this situation that means the accusing female considers you ugly.
Women have this quirky behavior about them. Women don’t like another prettier woman to enter her territory. Once a prettier woman enters the territory, she is considered a threat and is treated like three-day-old meat. She is not the queen bee any more. Homely women, especially over weight ones, are always on the lookout for interactions between men and woman. Since the homely woman is ignored by the male species in the business environment, if she is not getting any attention, no one else better receive any favorable attention from a fellow male colleague. If the homely woman can spin the interaction as a sexual harassment policy violation, she is quick to report the offense to Human Resources. If you are charged with Sexual Harassment in this situation that means the accusing female is ugly.
In either situation the sexual harassment charge just means someone is ugly.
